Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a water-soluble polymer, insoluble in most organic solvents except polar solvents such as acetic acid and chloroacetic acid, and has good flocculation performance, which can reduce the frictional resistance between liquids. According to their ionic properties, PAM can be divided into four types: cationic, anionic, amphoteric and nonionic.

Nonionic polyacrylamide

Nonionic polyacrylamide products are linear polymers with high molecular weight and low ionicity. Because of its special group, it has the functions of flocculation, dispersion, thickening, bonding, film formation, gelation, and stable colloid.

Anionic polyacrylamide

Anionic polyacrylamide (APAM) flocculant can be dissolved in any proportion in water, and the effective range of pH value is 7~14, that is, it shows the characteristics of high polymer electrolyte in neutral or alkaline medium, and is sensitive to contact with salt electrolyte , can be cross-linked with its high-valent metal ions to form an insoluble gel.

Cationic polyacrylamide

Because the molecular chain of cationic polyacrylamide (CPAM) has positively charged active groups, it can neutralize the negative charge of the colloid in sewage or sludge to make it flocculate, so it has a wide range of uses in sewage treatment. According to the different synthetic monomers, it can be divided into synthetic cations, modified natural polymers, alkyl allyl ammonium halides, epichlorohydrin and amine reaction polyacrylamides.

Zwitterionic polyacrylamide

Zwitterionic polyacrylamide is a polymer compound that contains both anion and cation groups in its molecular chain. It can treat various types of wastewater, especially for sludge dehydration. It can not only use adsorption bridging, electrical neutralization, but also use the "entanglement" cross-linking effect between molecules to make it dehydrate or flocculate. Make the treated sludge particles larger in size and better in dehydration. Based on the above special advantages, zwitterionic polyacrylamide flocculant has been widely used in water treatment, paper making and oil field exploitation and other fields
